Ocean Water by Adelle ~ JUN14VSNH ~ Sat. Jun 7th 4:00 pm
Challenge Title: Ocean Water
Hostess: Adelle (Adelle)
Keyword: JUN14VSNH
Date: Saturday, June 7, 2014, 4:00 PM, EST
I live in the Canadian prairies so I seldom get to the ocean. My few visits were along the Atlantic coast, mostly when it was too cold to go into the water for a swim. I still came away covered in salt; in my hair, on my clothes, and I could taste it on my lips.
My challenge to you is to create a card using the salted background technique. You can find the tutorial HERE.

Its very pretty. I love that you were able to get two for one so to speak. I really need to be better organized with my leftovers/scraps. Was that your experiments basket I saw in another thread?

This sounds like fun. I've never done this technique before. Will need to wait till tomorrow so I have time to make a mess with ink, salt and water. Cool idea for a challenge.

Yeah, it is a bit putzy. Makes a cool textured background. You can use your heat tool to speed it up. Can't wait to see it when you have time.

The original tutorial recommended glossy card stock, but watercolor paper seems to work better from what I'm hearing. And the coarser the salt, the more defined your pattern.

Here is mine. I did it earlier today, and just looked at it, wasn't sure. Anyway finally put something together using the bgs I made.
Here is Salty Beach Scene.
thank you!
My paper finally dried and I was able to finish my card background. I'd not tried this technique previously, it was fun. I ended up using table salt and glossy paper but the background turned out ok.
I've made my backgrounds - just got to make a card now. I decided to try both glossy card and watercolour paper, they've come out totally differently. Fun so far , thank you.

I didn't use all my background piece but diecut it - hope that's ok!
I still have the other one that I made on watercolour paper, so I'll try to work it in to one of the other challenges if I can .

That's fine, others are using the technique to create elements other than the background, and I love the creativity.

Thanks for the challenge! This is the first time that I tried this technique and it is difficult to see in the photo the salt reaction (I had to use table salt) but it did leave a crystalline effect :-) Thanks again for the inspiration!
