Garden Party is this week's free image at Delightful Inspiration . It's a progressive challenge and each week you play along, you get another free image.
I decided this would be a great image to try a variety of techniques. I was having such a fun time that I wound up making 5 different cards with the same image. I needed to replenish my stash of cards I have on hand, anyway. LOL
For my third card using this sweet digital scene I painted it with tube watercolors. I mixed the colors I wanted to use on a plastic palette. I accidently got too much water on the brush while painting the petals on the flowers and blotted it off with a piece of paper towel. I discovered that it left a pattern behind from the quilting on the paper towel and liked the way it looked. So I deliberately did the same thing to the rest of the flowers and leaves.
After painting, I did some fussy cutting and cut out the scene using a craft knife for the more intricate parts and cut out the bee separately. For the card background, I sponged a sky using a scalloped circle punched mask and SU inks. Then I popped up the scene and bee on the sky and redrew in the bee's trail. Used Stickles on the flower centers and bee's wings. Used pink Liquid Pearls on the mice's noses. Sponged Taken With Teal around the edges of the sky.
