This is for the spirelli/string art category (PAT 16/Group 15).
While not spirelli in the true sense, this is based on similar principles. The shape is from a family of curves called epicycloids. This particular one is a cardioid (due to the heart-like shape), though I find it reminds me more of a crescent moon.
The background is made with twinkling H20s and sponging, the figures are stamped on the same blue as the background and colored with pencils. The "moon" is a 52-point cardioid made with...wait for it... dental floss! It was the only fiber in my stash with just the right smooth, pearly sheen.

Wonderful card. Are you going to do a Video Tutorial on how to do this? I am sure there are a lot of us out here who are wondering and anxious to learn.

LOL ... you SO do not want me to make a video!
I got the cardioid instructions from a book called Curve Stitching by Jon Millington (Tarquin Publications, 1996). I used an old spirograph wheel to place the holes for the stitching.
Your moon is brilliant!!! Before I read your description, I said to myself - hey, is that dental floss... no, it can't be... I love atc's that set a scene, and tell a story - well done!

So sweet, and the moon is GREAT. I have used dental floss for lots of things, ( I am a retired dental hygienist) but never such a pretty thing. I will have to rethink dental floss. Very clever.
