Sorry -- I'm placing an order and need to get the hand-held punch that you gals said was great for setting SU eyelets. Which size is it ....1/8" or 1/16"???? THANKS!!!
It is the 1/16th. But, I had heard talk that the new one doesn't work to set eyelets. Can anyone confirm this? I would hate for you to order it specifically to set eyelets and then it not work.
This thread was just brought the my attention by a friend. I was doing a workshop on Wednesday and actually broke my 1/16th inch punch trying to set my eyelets. I have a new one, only a few months old. So I am afraid it may be true, that you have to have one of the old ones for it to work. HTH!
you can use the punches to set the SU eyelets bc they're so delicate, but SU doesn't recommend it and I know why firsthand! I was at a card class and used the punches to set the eyelets on my background cardstock and when I went to adhere that to the card, the eyelets fell out of the background paper! You don't always get a clean set on your eyelet that way....the only way to really guarantee it done correctly every time is to get the eyelet tools or silent setter
This is a little late, but I wanted to add my 2 cents.
My handhelds work great on most of the eyelets, but they won't work with the metallic bronze, gold, and pewter(?)-finish ones.
The SU eyelets are softer than other store bought ones and set so much easier! Just use the setter. If it's the noise you're worried about, put your mat on top of an old phone book or old thick magazine and it dulls the whacking noise!;)
I just got a new 1/16" to replace an old one. The new one does not work; there is not enough space for the eyelet to fit under the little part so you can press it down.
I love the way SCS'ers are such a wealth of info! I do have the eyelet setter, but the punch would be WAY handier. Alas. I'll at least use the punch to make the holes ....
