Am I the only one who can't stand the Bellas? They're scary!

Wow knowing that the designer of the Bellas reads this board, I would not have brought it to the board, and no you are probably not the only one who doesn't like them, but no of them would have posted it here.

Well, my opinion...take it or leave it. I see posts all the time about SU stamps that people don't like and we KNOW that SU reads the boards. Oh well, I hope you feel better now that you got that off your chest.

there are literally thousands and thousands of stamp companies out there, if this particular one doesn't float your boat then look around and I am sure that you will find one out there that you like!

It has nothing to do with feeling better, it has to do with constructive criticism. If you do not like them, there is a better way to say it then "Can't stand the Bellas".

To each their own - that's the beauty of the industry - it would be pretty boring if we all liked the same thing ;)

But yes threads like this are quite numerous- just do a search of the word "Bella" and you'll see - and most "negative Bella threads" tend to get quite heated - all us "Bella-lovas" can get quite protective ROFL!!!!

The bella girls aren't my style - cuz I'm more of a tomboy- but I wouldn't call them scary. I do like the flower stamps on the Stamping Bella site.

To each their own!

Not my style, either, but everybody's different. My daughter and I both stamp, and her tastes are entirely different than mine - I think we only have two stamp sets in common, and they are Wonderful Words and Sincere Salutation!

While I realize people tend to be "protective," please don't stomp on folks that express a differing opinion. It's not "rude" to post an opinion just because the manufacturer is a member of this site.

People post threads like this all the time about lots of different things. Stampin' Up, Hero Arts, to name a few companies. "Cute" stamps, "collage" stamps, "religious" stamps, to name a few styles. And let's not forget the threads like, "What's UP with paperclips??? They're so UGLY!"

Everybody is entitled to "get" or not get a trend, a style, a brand. Everybody is entitled to express that in a thread, AS LONG AS their opinion is just for their own feelings, and is not a put down of anybody else's, e.g. "Ya'll are IDIOTS to think these are cute!"

If you don't agree, maybe just start your own, "I absolutely ADORE (fill in the blank)!!"

I did just that.

Forums at Splitcoaststampers

There are a current total of 58 threads with the word 'bella' in the title. Of those, I counted 17 for swaps or ISOs, 40 that were either extremely positive or started by folks wanting to learn more before they bought some, and a total of one in that search that could be seen as potentially negative, on the topic of bellas and body image. I know there are at least two more bella threads that were started by folks who don't 'get' the whole bella thing, and a further thread about the cuttlebug that mentioned bellas in the title ('while i am waiting for my bellas i bought the CB' or something like that).

I really don't understand the basis for the statement that negative bella threads are 'quite numerous' as in my experience this is not the case. The bella product line could not be getting more positive coverage on SCS even if the company did something extreme like paying people to start happy-bella threads.

I know that anything other than positive feedback about a product line one's created must be hard to take, but honestly, it is an unfortunate part of the territory, and is best handled by maintaining a professional attitude and letting anything negative appear to roll off one's back in public.

I've been ignoring the whole bella craze and the numerous threads on SCS about them, but I'm getting a little concerned about how anyone who 'dares' to say anything less than glowing about them get hung by their toes by the bella mob. JMO.

Okay - I just came out of winter hibernation. Can someone direct me to the Bella site? I have been seeing some new figures in the gallery and are they Bellas?

Thanks - they look like figures that used in advertising in the late 50s and early 60s. Are they unmounted, rubber only?

The Bellas aren't my style either, but what I wanted to really say is that I like to hear all opinions. I just posted that I don't like rhinestone brads in another thread ... I am expecting flaming arrows any minute!

Just thought I'd post the following excerpt from the Terms of Service on SCS:

"You don't have to agree with another member's opinion, but we ask that you respect that person enough to realize that it is THEIR opinion, which may differ greatly from your own.

Purposefully changing a thread topic to draw attention away from the topic of the original poster, commonly known as "threadjacking", is not permitted. If you don't like a post that someone has created, please respond civilly or just ignore the post completely. Topics do change in the natural course of conversation and we know that it also happens naturally in posts we are not concerned with that. What we are tying to eliminate would be the INTENTIONAL diversion off of the original post topic."

Well if you went through all the threads themselves you'd be surprised at some of the negativity (I guess me saying numerous "THREADS" was not right - it's more like negative posts here and there)........... being one who really likes the Bellas I'm in the threads quite often (they're usually FUN!!) and so are a lot of other people - so we all see the negativity and I can understand ppl get upset over it (I'm not upset - heck all I was trying to do was point out that it's been discussed over and over!)............

There is NOTHING wrong with ANYONE not liking something - but when it comes to the Bellas it gets a little crazy mostly b/c of the fact that some REALLY nasty (IMO) things have been said about them - and the funny thing about that is is that the nasty comments are in the "positive" threads............. if people don't like them that's fine - like I said (I'm starting to sound like a broken record) it'd be pretty boring if we ALL loved 'em.............

JMO which I am entitled to.

sorry, I didn't think I was doing a threadjacking - just asking questions about a subject I was unfamiliar with. It won't happen again.

LOL you said it - seriously tho - the Bella threads go along quite happily and then BAM! someone slips in something nasty (there was one from a "new user" *cough* troll that posted out of the blue about them being anorexic and all kinds of other things and it was just nuts) and THAT is what I was referring to - posts like that - there's been some hatin' going on and ppl just get upset!!!

Well, holy crap at this whole thread!

I'm a newbie. I'm also one of the very rare ignorant type. I love to make cards, I love anything paper.

What I have issue with is a thread gone bad.
I really am a stamping virgin. I have a few stamps but I really don't use them. I have not learned to fully appreciate the value of stamps when it comes to making cards or scrapbook pages. They don't do a whole lot for me, but the more I browse around this fantastic community, the more I am convinced that I need to get me some stamps.

OK, let's get back on track here. To be honest, I really felt like I was watching a Jerry Springer rerun here. As a virgin stamper, I am so not interested in people posting in an effort to slam either an individual or a particular product. Is it not enough to just simply say that you do not prefer or favor said product? Really, while reading any post, the minute I feel that someone is indulgining and a "SLAM IT' post, I check out! I stop listening/reading. I'm here for information. I dont' thing I'd be far off by assuming that everyone else is here for the same thing?

Someone posted earier that basically, you can't please everyone. It's so true. I'm interested in why a person likes something more than why they don't. Only then can I make a decision to invest in something or not. Of course the drawbacks are good to know, but they're not the whole picutre.

Personally, I am interested in finding out what is most popular, versatile and how am I going to get the most out of my hard earned dollar.

Now to be honest, I read topics, first, because the subject of the thread was interesting to me and secondly, I continue reading because I feel that the people posting on said thread have something valuable to say that might in the end influence me in a positive way.

I have done a goole on Bella only because I didn't know what it was. Personally, I happen to like them. Retro is in! I like retro. I never would have imagined saying such a thing! Recycling fads of the past? Hello!! Where is the creativity and originality!! . . . . . but . . . . there's something to be said for that.

However, I am not here to promote anything. I like it all.

I could go on and on and on, My primary point is that I want to be able to click on something and find an opinion that is not only professional and unbiased, but just simply and assessment of the product based on personal experience, without bias or attempt to influence or damage the success of the business producing said product.

I'm sorry, but from my perspective, I think this is just a thread gone bad.

JMO.

Wow are you serious that they paid people to post positive feedback here?
I really thought the bella's were kinda cute, but if they did that I'm having
second thoughts.

Hi Gals!!!
We at SCS want to encourage free speech so long as it is not harmful...we want to encourage creativity and expansive knowledge as well.
First off, if you have an opinion feel free to express it so long as it is done in the right manner. The OP of this thread simply stated
Quote:

Am I the only one who can't stand the Bellas? They're scary!
She was expressing an opinion...she was not attacking anyone, she was not putting anyone down, she was stating HER opinion....to which she is entitled to.
So please if you are a Bella lover....take it as just HER OPINION. Let it be "like water off a ducks back" if it is not an opinion you share.

Secondly, as for "highjacking" a topic or thread....it is just normal in converstaion to take twists and turns....so if a thread like this is started and someone reading asks "What is a Bella?" That is just NATURAL in the course of converstation...it is not looked at as "threadjacking"...she was curious and asked. Someone answered...that was it. Now if someone who disagreed asked "Soooo how about those Rangers sweeping their series?" that would be considered "threadjacking" because it has nothing to do with the original post or topic as it stood.

Now all that being said...if you are still reading...let's all try to get along and don't get too worked up! TGIF!!! WOOHOO!
