that's nothing. The other day, I saw the complete set of 16 $1 clear stamps from Michaels going for $36! It may have sold for more than that (I'll have to see if I can find the link)

I guess for some people who do not live near Michael's it's a price they're willing to pay to get the stamps they want. I don;t go there often, but times like this I'm glad there's 2 of them within close driving distance.
 The Michael's store that I was at today had a ton of these!!! I think I was one of the very first posters to get them here, but I haven't seen them for awhile now.
Too bad I'm going out of town this week or I'd think about going back out there and cleaning them out to re-sell. Nope, ... can't manage it. Oh, well.

I went by Michael's tonight and there wasn't a single set there. The $1 bins were all empty...so I assume they are getting ready for a reset. Hopefully soon I'll be able to find these. But I can certainly live without them! Especially at $60!
Well, I guess they must have sold them in my area, because the ebay seller is in the next suburb from me. I haven't seen them at my michael's, but the reason I wanted them is because they were $1...being new to stamping and on a limited budget, I was really wanting to find some of these. So I guess I'll just save my money for something else.
I called both Michael's in my area...I'm between the two of them. Although they're completely out of them right now, both managers told me they're expecting more. Hopefully that's really the case....'cause they're so dang cute!
LOL, that's too funny. I really hope the buyer lives in a town where the $1 Mike's stamps aren't easily available!
Not that I would pay that much, but, it is a minimum of $20 in gas for me to drive to a Michaels. There are a few I would REALLY like to have, but the trip to get them makes it cost prohibitive. I have paid $6 for one--including s&h--off the bay. I do not feel ripped off. I was completely aware of what I was doing. I also tried to get the stamp (a cow) off of the BST board for over a week to no avail.
I think people get bidding fever sometimes, too. Or they don't really know what the original value of the product is, or how readily available something is.
Not to sorta hijack topics, but a friend and I were just commenting on this plague this morning - that being the ridiculous prices being paid on eBay, especially for CM items. But $60 for $16 worth of stamps?!?! That's amazing! That gal is probably laughing all the way to the bank!

There are a lot of folks who don't live near a Michaels or other store, or don't have the time or live out of the USA. Ebay is great for them!
I never thought of that when I first saw the listing...good point! I was just thinking of all the poor gullible people who had no idea what they were bidding on...

I imagine a lot of it has to do, as many have said, with the proximity to good shopping. I don't have that problem fortunately. (Which is also why I don't want to move where my husband wants to retire to!) In fact, check out my blog to see how to win practically a whole set of them (15), plus the two acrylic blocks!
