$1 stamps FS on the bay...seller making a killing!

A seller is selling five $1 stamps from M's on the bay plus 2 inspiration sheets and the bidding is up to $10.50. Can't believe my eyes!!!

emmiestamps 03-26-2007 11:39 AM

Insane...LOL

shellca 03-26-2007 11:42 AM

that's nothing. The other day, I saw the complete set of 16 $1 clear stamps from Michaels going for $36! It may have sold for more than that (I'll have to see if I can find the link)

stampwithdiane 03-26-2007 12:25 PM

I guess for some people who do not live near Michael's it's a price they're willing to pay to get the stamps they want. I don;t go there often, but times like this I'm glad there's 2 of them within close driving distance.

sara henton 03-26-2007 12:43 PM

Does anyone have links, I would love to see it?

dolphinprncss03 03-26-2007 12:58 PM

yikes they are up to 60.00 and still 2 days left to bid....WOW i am in the wrong business lol

Frenchy 03-26-2007 01:01 PM

Wow - maybe I should sell mine!

skkirts 03-26-2007 08:01 PM

Saw bunches of these today!

 The Michael's store that I was at today had a ton of these!!! I think I was one of the very first posters to get them here, but I haven't seen them for awhile now.
Too bad I'm going out of town this week or I'd think about going back out there and cleaning them out to re-sell. Nope, ... can't manage it. Oh, well.

I went by Michael's tonight and there wasn't a single set there. The $1 bins were all empty...so I assume they are getting ready for a reset. Hopefully soon I'll be able to find these. But I can certainly live without them! Especially at $60!

GarnetJ 03-27-2007 08:36 AM

I have never seen these at Michael's. Maybe they are only sold in a few areas. But I still wouldn't pay $60.

Latte2Love 03-27-2007 08:59 AM

Well, I guess they must have sold them in my area, because the ebay seller is in the next suburb from me. I haven't seen them at my michael's, but the reason I wanted them is because they were $1...being new to stamping and on a limited budget, I was really wanting to find some of these. So I guess I'll just save my money for something else.

Choc0holic 03-27-2007 09:02 AM

I called both Michael's in my area...I'm between the two of them. Although they're completely out of them right now, both managers told me they're expecting more. Hopefully that's really the case....'cause they're so dang cute!

row4d 03-27-2007 09:04 AM

LOL, that's too funny. I really hope the buyer lives in a town where the $1 Mike's stamps aren't easily available!

Not that I would pay that much, but, it is a minimum of $20 in gas for me to drive to a Michaels. There are a few I would REALLY like to have, but the trip to get them makes it cost prohibitive. I have paid $6 for one--including s&h--off the bay. I do not feel ripped off. I was completely aware of what I was doing. I also tried to get the stamp (a cow) off of the BST board for over a week to no avail.

Just a different perspective.

sma499 03-27-2007 09:52 AM

I think people get bidding fever sometimes, too. Or they don't really know what the original value of the product is, or how readily available something is.

Joan B 03-27-2007 11:28 AM

There are a lot of folks who don't live near a Michaels or other store, or don't have the time or live out of the USA. Ebay is great for them!

shari stamper 03-27-2007 02:20 PM

Not to sorta hijack topics, but a friend and I were just commenting on this plague this morning - that being the ridiculous prices being paid on eBay, especially for CM items. But $60 for $16 worth of stamps?!?! That's amazing! That gal is probably laughing all the way to the bank!

I never thought of that when I first saw the listing...good point! I was just thinking of all the poor gullible people who had no idea what they were bidding on...

Jenmouer 03-28-2007 05:38 AM

or people that do live near a Michaels but yet thier Michaels don't have them yet....

prairie mom 03-28-2007 05:51 AM

I am selling mine on ebay right now. I am not selling to make money. I just don't like how they stamp. I would love it if mine sold for that!!!

LouiseG 03-29-2007 11:46 AM

I imagine a lot of it has to do, as many have said, with the proximity to good shopping. I don't have that problem fortunately. (Which is also why I don't want to move where my husband wants to retire to!)
In fact, check out my blog to see how to win practically a whole set of them (15), plus the two acrylic blocks!:D
