I love the colors Karen Barber selected for today's Color Challenge. They are SU Wild Wasabi, Powder Pink, So Saffron, and Soft Sky. Her dessert is scallops. I had to substitute a few colors, but they are closely related. I had to skip dessert; my daughter was lecturing me yesterday about having dessert, so my skipping it will make her happy.
I love the yellow Volkswagen Beetle on the card as it reminds me of my first car. One glorious day, my Dad met me at lunch and took me to a Volkswagen dealership to buy my first car. It was a yellow Beetle with a stick shift! I didn't know, at that time, how to drive a stick shift!! Boy, was I sweating! However, my Dad had a lot of faith in me and it was his decision to get the stick shift. He said I wouldn't have any problems driving it!!!
I drove the car back to work and then home at the end of the work day. I had one very curvy mountain to go down on the way home, and that required a lot of down shifting. Boy, that stick shift and I had hiccups all the way home (those of you who can drive a stick shift know what I mean)! My Dad got such a kick out of watching me pull into the driveway! I was sweating bullets when I got out of the car and he was standing in the yard laughing his heart out. Eventually, I grew to love that car, and I still have the tags from it.
Sorry to ramble, but I had to share the memory!

LOL, you said 'rambling' like it's a bad thing!!! Ohhh Bev I loved your story and didn't want it to end!! One of my very favourite things about uploads on SCS are the little bits and pieces of our lives that are shared. I also love reading everyone's comments. I smile and nod, often I read about something I missed and madly scramble back to the card. Never stop rambling my friend. Now about your card, I love it to bits and it looks perfect sitting in MY FAVS.

What an adorable card. I love the bug and your story....how cute!!! I did drive a straight shift mustang. That was fun, fun. A bug and a wonderful ocean scene.....not much better than that. Love your card.

So cute, Bev! That Beetle stamp is terrific and I love the scene you created.
Like you, my first card was a VW Beetle, and I ended up owning two more before moving on to another type of car (e.g. one with a heater and defroster that actually worked well LOL!). Thank you for sharing your fun trip down memory lane!
