I love the colors Karen Barber selected for today's Color Challenge. They are SU Wild Wasabi, Powder Pink, So Saffron, and Soft Sky. Her dessert is scallops. I had to substitute a few colors, but they are closely related. I had to skip dessert; my daughter was lecturing me yesterday about having dessert, so my skipping it will make her happy.
I love the yellow Volkswagen Beetle on the card as it reminds me of my first car. One glorious day, my Dad met me at lunch and took me to a Volkswagen dealership to buy my first car. It was a yellow Beetle with a stick shift! I didn't know, at that time, how to drive a stick shift!! Boy, was I sweating! However, my Dad had a lot of faith in me and it was his decision to get the stick shift. He said I wouldn't have any problems driving it!!!
I drove the car back to work and then home at the end of the work day. I had one very curvy mountain to go down on the way home, and that required a lot of down shifting. Boy, that stick shift and I had hiccups all the way home (those of you who can drive a stick shift know what I mean)! My Dad got such a kick out of watching me pull into the driveway! I was sweating bullets when I got out of the car and he was standing in the yard laughing his heart out. Eventually, I grew to love that car, and I still have the tags from it.
Sorry to ramble, but I had to share the memory!

This is the happiest scene with your VW Bug and all the beautiful flowers! My Dad taught me to drive and he bought a car with a stick shift just for that purpose. He said, "If you learn on a stick shift you'll always be able to drive anything!"

What a gorgeous card. I love your depth with the cut out and the raised flowers. Brings back memories of my first car which was a light blue VW Beetle!

Oh my goodness Bev, what an incredible card this is. Everything about this card is fabulous! I adore this bug and the little fence with the seaside scene in the bg. All the flowers and your fantastic sentiment give this card that groovy 70's feel, in the best possible way! This is going right into my favs! ~Karen.

Love the way you angled the oval for your sentiment. This is wonderful. I immediately thought of Hawaii!.....Loved reading your history with this car. One of my first full time jobs was driving a bug all around the city delivering wholesale glasses to optometrists. I did not know how to drive one either, but I sure had to learn quickly, lol...
