These are the most beautiful Cockatoos. They are called Gang Gangs. I often see them in Winter when they come down from the ranges to spend the colder weather here - there are lots of seeds and nuts on the trees for them. The male is the red headed one - and it is a very bright red - the poor little female isn't so brightly attired. You can also hear them when they are flying overhead because their call sounds like a very rusty door hinge - creaky and needing oil. I made the background using a gelli plate - and don't ask me how I did it - I can't replicate it!!! This is very annoying - it was the first print from my new larger gelli print plate - so I think it must have some sort of oil or something on the plate which produced the lovely background. If I knew what did it I would bottle it and sell it. he he. The image is coloured with Derwent water colour pencils. I have had this lovely stamp for years and years and never used so I am very happy with the result. Hope you enjoy my little Birdy Friends.

Awesome card! We have gang-gang cockatoos where I live too although they never come to our feeders like the rainbow lorikeets, galahs & corellas do - they just fly over with that unmistakable creaking sound. I have NEVER seen this brand of stamps before - I will definitely have to check them out. Popped your card into my Favourites Gallery :-)
