Our teaparty this week is for Janet in San Antonio, Texas. Janet is a friend of our very own SparklePlenty. I hope our cards bring a bucket load of cheer to Janet and her family.
We had a great story this week (set to music no less) about sun flowers. Janet is a keen gardner, loves flowers, bright colours and is also an artist. We were warned that cutting off ears (ah la Van Gogh style) would not be in the teapotters best interest. My hands were trembling when I was fussy cutting young Georges head.
Young George started out real life as a Sassy Cheryl digi stamp (his real name is Noah, but I changed it to George). I carefully cut around Georges arms so I could slide the paper pieced flower pot in place. I was going to stick the arms down, but it was too hard to get glue under his arms without breaking one off (we have already been warned about slicing ears off, could you image if i amputated an arm).
Little George was originally placed on a step card surrounded by sunflowers, but it just didn't work. I tried all sorts of things when I remember a challenge last week about paper strips.
The blue, green and brown cardstock are by Core'dinations. I tore them so that the underside of each strip was showing.
I fussy cut the sunflowers (digi stamps), attempted to colour them with copics, gave up, then applied Tim Holtz distress inks to cover my mistakes. I added stickles to the centres and inked the edges.
Thank you for looking and have a great week everyone.
