Our teaparty this week is for Janet in San Antonio, Texas. Janet is a friend of our very own SparklePlenty. I hope our cards bring a bucket load of cheer to Janet and her family.
We had a great story this week (set to music no less) about sun flowers. Janet is a keen gardner, loves flowers, bright colours and is also an artist. We were warned that cutting off ears (ah la Van Gogh style) would not be in the teapotters best interest. My hands were trembling when I was fussy cutting young Georges head.
Young George started out real life as a Sassy Cheryl digi stamp (his real name is Noah, but I changed it to George). I carefully cut around Georges arms so I could slide the paper pieced flower pot in place. I was going to stick the arms down, but it was too hard to get glue under his arms without breaking one off (we have already been warned about slicing ears off, could you image if i amputated an arm).
Little George was originally placed on a step card surrounded by sunflowers, but it just didn't work. I tried all sorts of things when I remember a challenge last week about paper strips.
The blue, green and brown cardstock are by Core'dinations. I tore them so that the underside of each strip was showing.
I fussy cut the sunflowers (digi stamps), attempted to colour them with copics, gave up, then applied Tim Holtz distress inks to cover my mistakes. I added stickles to the centres and inked the edges.
Thank you for looking and have a great week everyone.

I always look forward to the scenes your create. I like how you used the torn paper technique and left an opening in the fence for your delightful little George image.

Ah, Susie you did a great job saving George and his ear! (I was laughing so hard tears were rolling down my face!) I love all the texture of your card, and of course little George with a pot of sunflower almost as big as him Glad you liked the song.

Susie, I am so excited each week to see what wonderful card you come up with! This is just adorable! Your sunflowers are so lovely and that bg is very cool. I love your commentary equally as much as your creations! You da Bomb! Why oh why is Australia so far from the U.S.? Thank you so very much! Janet will be so touched by all the lovely cards that the wonderful ladies of the teaparty are going to send her. She has no idea what is about to rain down on her.....

Susie, this is just amazing! You have made some of the neatest scene cards. I'm in awe. I am literally all thumbs when it comes to this technique. I'm glad too you didn't cut any appendages off while fussy cutting. Another talent I do not have. I flunked scissors in the first grade you know Janet I think will adore this card of yours!!

That was brilliant to cut the arms and put a flower pot in his arms. Whole card is fabulous. You captured the whole scale of a little boy with huge flowers.

This delightful card just makes me smile all over! I did a count and I am only seeing ONE ear???? :-) Gearge is just the cutest with his pot full off sunflowers! Your paper tearing (AWESOME) is only surpassed by your fussy cutting. I love the little fence he is coming through... your scene will give a smile to her face and it will make her feel so VERY special that this amazing card was made for her.

It sounds like you went through a lot of work to achieve this beauty, Susie, and got stressed in the process! He just couldn't be sweeter, and the outcome of the pot, beautiful flowers & leaves is stunning! Such an awesome little scene, and your fencing creates a garden picture! So cute~
