Congrats to Shannan, today's Featured Stamper! I chose Wishing You Comfort to case. I kept the layout but turned it. I changed the images, the colors and moved my sentiment from the center to a separate panel.
All images are Innovative Stamp Creations, just released last Friday. The fern was stamped w/ gold ink onto vanilla c/s, embossed w/ gold ep and cut w/ a Spellbinders oval die. I sponged the edges w/ mustard colored ink from the Kpad and edged it w/ a Krylon pen. It's a attached to a rust layer. I did the same to the sentiment, but die cut it w/ a nestie tag die.
The frame was created w/ a piece of handmade paper. I have bunch of this I bought a long time ago. It's fairly thick but it's not the best to stamp on since it's a little rough and super absorbent. I tried to do a water color wash w/ red, orange, yellow and green dye reinkers, but because of the paper, it didn't work. The colors kind of sat there in splotches. So I washed over the whole thing w/ a mustard color. Still didn't like it. Then I tried a wash w/ lt gold acrylic paint, thinned w/ water. Now I liked it, and this is the final result. After it dried, I used a larger nestie oval to cut out the middle and attached the frame on top of my other layers.
I scribbled a mixture of gold and copper Krylon pens onto some scrap cardboard (ok, all cardboard is scrap, but this is scrap of scrap) and punched 4 circles out and attached to the corners.
Thanks so much for looking! My blog:The Write Stuff. Sorry! I had to delete a bunch of really old posts from my blog & this is one of them

Lovely Julie! That paper sounds like a lot of work but it turned out wonderfully! I love that you put that on top with a cut out center, rather than underneath the main image.

This is exactly why you are one of my fav stampers Julie - look at the creativity and techniques you have used to make this your "own" special card. It's glorious with all that gold and the layers. Just spectacular and I just love to read your notes on how you do your cards. I get lost halfway through and can't imagine how long it would take you to do one card. It's probably a "natural" thing for you, but it would take me 2 weeks at least to even think of your techniques, etc. That's why I so enjoy your art Julie!! What a fantastic card to honor our featured stamper this week. I know Shannan will LOVE this! TFS!

Holy Mackeral, this is GORGEOUS Julie! Your frame and gold embossing have a total WOW factor. I have some small metallic gold cardboard frames that I had completely forgotten about until I spied them yesterday when I was hunting down a missing embellishment. Thanks for the inspiration to drag them out and use 'em! Your Krylon treatment is stunning.
