Phew this tickle went on for a while.....over a 3 day period to be exact.
This card is for the Teapot monthly Tickle challenge.
I recently acquired some Jane Davenport products, including a face stamp and wanted to give it a whirl. I can't draw, I can't paint and I just do my thing and hope it comes out ok in the end lol.
The face once stamped looks good on its own. I decided to try out my new colour bursts too....gosh if this isolation keeps going my craft room will burst at the seams, but Amazon will love me!
As I'm reading....I retract....as I've been reading and will continue to read ....To Love a Sunburnt Country by Jackie French, I knew I could somehow make my new face stamp work for the challenge.
The book is one of those reads where you can go back to it and pick up right where you left it....even after a couple of months. Usually I'm not a slow reader and have been known to read up to 5 books a month. It's not as though the book isn't interesting, I'm just preoccupied with other things. I will persist with it and finish it. It's set in Australia and Singapore during WWII and is a story about survival and love.
Back to the card....after choosing which colour bursts I thought would capture the colours on the cover of the book, off I go waving my brush around. That's when I should have left it as it had more purples and pinks, but nope that wouldn't be me lol.
I've also acquired a Jane Davenport book on how to create faces.....I have a lot of time on my hands at present so I'm trying to teach myself how to draw, paint and create shadows. As you can see I got my shadows wrong but it was tricky reading and seeing a face visually and then transferring that knowledge to my stamped face lol....usually I turn the book upside down to get instructions...lol. That's why my shadows are on the wrong side but let's just say the sun was high at the time.
Moving on....so that's when I'm adding gelatos as per my instructions. I had even created a sample too, but obviously gelatos and colours bursts don't mix well. Maybe I should have known that with all the social distancing in place. Sorry, I couldn't resist lol.
So back to the colour bursts I go but this time I'm adding more orange and yellow. Where's my purple and pinks gone...oh dear. I carry on brushing and flicking and realise that there's going to be no paper left if I don't stop soon. So what do I do.......out come the sparkly watercolours..lol....and I'm flicking and brushing highlights on there. In fact everywhere lol. Oh I do love sparkle.
Phew that was a close shave but I finally stop and I've only been making this panel over 3 days....not all the time lol. Then I remembered somewhere in my memory bank that I should add gel medium to protect the panel. Out it comes and I'm brushing that on but wait...my black journalling pen is starting to streak and part of her eyebrow is now on her nose. Doh, doh doh.
So out come some CP inks...I didn't have the energy to get the colour bursts out again and I'd cleaned up lol...and it's just a little speck. More brushing and flicking. Ok I'm done. DH thinks it's good so it must be ok lol.
Panel matted and I chose to use a line from an Australian poet and writer's poem eoeMy countrye for my quote. I'm an Aussie but I was born in England but I have come to love my new home. Marrying an Aussie may have something to do with it.
Inside the card is a panel with the whole poem on.
I hope that my tickle recipient likes the card and knows that there's a lot of layers on there and a lot of doh's lol.
TFL. Keep well and have fun

Great interpretation of your book cover. It's amazing to think you achieved that with Colorburst, I wouldn't even attempt trying to colour and shade with them.
