This card is for the Tuesday Teapot Tickle Challenge. It's also for the sketch challenge and the Alpha challenge J = Japanese
The challenge was to create a card taking inspiration from Japanese Kintsugi and wabi-sabi art process. When I read this challenge that Jean aka Jkanack had set, I knew straight away that I wanted to Tickle a Teapotter. I love Japan and anything that is Japanese, plus I had just the papers to use in my stash brought from Japan last year.
I didn't have a vase image in my stamp set but had this mason jar which I thought could work. I stamped the image with Versamark and then gold embossed it. It came up beautifully and I even remembered to use my little duster thingy first lol.
I then drew some fractured lines in the middle of my image. Used my embossing pen and embossing those in gold. So far, so good. I didn't have tracing paper and had to find a way to get the shapes cut out and so I could add my Japanese paper behind. Thankfully I have a small cutting tool from my scrapping days that was just right and easier than scissors. The image did get a little flimsy but once the paper was behind it and stuck on it was good and just the effect I wanted. I was taking inspiration from an old Coffee pot that belonged to my Grandmother that is in my craft room so chose papers similar to that.
Fussy cut the image out, added Gold wink of Stella around the edges and to cover up any shonky cutting...not that there was any lol, and I was loving it.
What next...I have to add that Tickling a Teapotter isn't something I've done before as I'm in awe of those ladies, but I also wanted to be tickled by one of them as I long to receive a card from some of them, so I did have a selfish motive here lol. I also wanted someone to receive a card from me using my beautiful papers. I have a few so I can make a lot of cards using this technique.
I decided at this point to run with this week's sketch as I like it, so I fussy cut a scalloped die which was bigger than my CS, but thank goodness for tutorials and YouTube. I remembered a SU lady on a video showing how you can cut dies bigger than your CS and still get the right effect. It was a bit nerve wracking but phew I did it without stuffing it up. Clumsy is my middle name lol.
It was at this point I decided I wanted more gold, so out comes my Blossom stencil that reminds me of the cherry blossom in Japan and I'm pushing my gold through it. It also found its way on the edges lol...deliberately.
More finger tapping and I decided to stencil more cs and make my own spring blossom BG being careful to choose a colour that matched my paper...after all this was going to a Teapotter.
More papers cut and added as per the sketch, gold and white twine added. It wouldn't be me if I left it at this and as a big fan of butterflies I die cut one, popped it up and added bling.
I wanted a sentiment and cut a few out in gold but they all took away from the beauty of the jar so I decided to leave it as it is. I'm so happy with how it's turned out and I hope whoever I tickle will be too.
Inside I stamped a quote that I thought was appropriate.....
Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect. It means you decide to see beyond the imperfections.
TFL. Happy day and check out the Tuesday Teapot Challenges.

love the exuberance you've created here, Jayne! It is bursting with a beauty all it's own. Using the Mason jar
big enough to how that gorgeous Japanese paper was perfect. The bright patterns just make me smile. The
butterfly, bit of bakers twine and the stenciled bg all tell
the story of Kintsugi.
Some Teapotter will be thrilled to receive this! Me included.

I'm so glad you've joined the Tickle this month, Jayne. I know any of us will be delighted to receive this beauty. ( I'll drop you a pm later when I'm on the PC). I love all that gold detailing and repair on your mason jar. And how special that your papers actually came from Japan. The closest I have are papers from the Japanese cultural centre in Paris, and I'm very frugal with them. Your DIY Spring blossom paper is also beautiful, and what an appropriate sentiment inside. I love this sort of write-up .

Now if receiving this card doesn't make someone happy, I don't know what will. I'm amazed at all you went through to create this Beauty, Jayne. Your card is so beautiful; I love the golden cracks, the simple twine and the pretty butterfly added to the top of your jar. And you actually have some Japanese paper? What a hoot! How perfect is that for this teapotter challenge. Just Lovely~
