This card is for the Teapotters Challenge that is a Coffee one this week and for Pixie Adams who did a RAK. I'm a big fan of RAKs...check out her story on the Teapotters challenge. I'm also a fan of coffee....lattes actually lol...and green tea. I'm also putting it against the Alpha Challenge for P...Pixie's perfect blend.
When I saw the challenge I knew I wanted to have a go and send Pixie a card. I had some coffee and tea stamps and also Kindness stamps and a die that had never seen daylight since I purchased them. It was time to use them.
I also follow Simon Says blog and oh my...I had seen this last week and knew I wanted to have a go, so part of my process is not my own. I simply followed instructions modifying them slightly along the way. Check this beauty out. I love this lady's work. Thank you Simon Says and Anna-Karin for the inspiration, plus I had used one of their stamps..double dip..shame it's not a tea challenge but we can say double shot..sorry..it's my humour.
So following Anna-Karin's instructions, I find a die I want to paste onto my cream CS. The one I used I thought makes it look as though there's coffee rings left on top, although my DH says they look like the top of a takeaway coffee cup to him..I will take that.
Gesso added and then the fun begins. I decided I wanted texture so embossed my CS first, then I used 4 lots of TH Distress inks, 2 the same as Anna-Karin and 2 others because I didn't have what she used lol. All were coffee colours except the grey. I plonked, I sponged, I did more plonking, I pounced....I did this because my mate Susie over East does this and I wanted to give it a go. After drying, I felt it was lacking something even though it had some cool mixed and streaky colours. So out comes my Pixie Dust...it was a sign lol...I chose that colour which is from CP's range because it's sort of mauve/purple and I love grey and mauve together, plus I had checked my spinning colour wheel thingy and it showed me it could be used. When you are making a card for the Teapotters or coffee potters you want to get the colours right. I do seem to be checking my wheel a lot. It helps.
More plonking, sponging and pouncing and I decide I'm good with it otherwise this coffee is going to turn to mud lol. That's when I go back to Anna-Karin's process and see she then adds crackle paste. Ok I have that, but when I open my jar it's definitely crackled and as hard as rock.
What I do have though is textured paste and I can use my heat gun and make it bubbly and sort of crackly. Out comes a new stencil I bought last year...see how I'm using my stash. It's got circles similar to the swirly scribbles so I'm texturising my card lol.
Now what? It needs sparkle and I have some sparkle medium and I'm scraping that on...gently. I can get carried away. Loving it. Now for my coffee cup.
I had stamped the cup, fussy cut it out and added lots of distress inks to make it sort of a latte colour, cum cappuccino. I knew I wanted a tag to come off it and Anna-Karin had used cloth which I do have but I wanted to be a little different lol. That's when I remembered some mesh I had found in my stash when doing a Marie Kondo a couple of months ago. It's golden too and very fine. Die cut a circle and that's my doily, cum plate. DH says I'm a princess sometimes after all lol. I had to staple that on but my cup covers that up.
Stamped my tag..phew that was tricky as it had kindness on there and I wanted my Kindness to be my die cut one. I masked it a couple of times but forgot to take the mask off...doh so I had lots of stuff happening with that sentiment. Finally I got there but had to improvise and pencil and paint...yep I got my smallest paintbrush and painted without water the of...I was amazed at myself lol.
Kindness die cut using my coffee panel I made for DTGD last year. There's actual coffee beans on there although you can't see them well. Added wink of stella in gold and left that to dry. It took a little while to find the dot for the i which was stuck on my finger all the time lol.
Finally 2 more cups stamped and fussy cut...there's 3 on there..I embossed the top one trying to make sure I didn't emboss the top. Added wink of stella and wrote Pixie's name in gold. Twine added and done.
This will wing its way to Pixie in the next few days.
TFL. Have a happy day and make mine a latte please

A beautiful take inspired by Anna-Karin - I love her work and have been inspired by her in the past. I think your dies do indeed look like coffee rings.

Ooh, Jayne! What a fun work of (he)art! I love all the texture and was so fascinated to read your whole process of creating this beauty! And what a perfect sentiment. Thanks for playing along in my challenge. I checked out that blog post and it sure does sound like a fun technique to try! But my favorite part about this card is that the coffee cup is personalized!! Ack! Pixie will love this!
