These cards are for Sabrina's fun Ways To Use It challenge - Umbrella.
I couldn't decide between my favourite Unity stamp or Umbrella Man, so I decided to do both. I gave Umbrella Man a bit of a makeover, I cut his coat shorter, trimmed down the leg width and cut out an underarm.
His scarf is 3 strands of fancy floss (I don't know what I was thinking when I bought that stuff in every colour about 6 years ago).
Both of the backgrounds are from my card yesterday. Skip this bit if you have already read it....I started by sprinkling Brusho powder on my el cheapo A3 sized water colour paper then squirting on a heap of water. I got a bit carried away with the brusho's and water, it was resembling a river so I quickly whacked an A4 sheet of cardstock on it to mop up the water.
The watercolour paper was still oozing inky water so I took another piece of A4 cardstock and this time I gently placed it over the watercolour paper and rubbed my hands all over it to mop up as much as I could. The great thing is I have two A4 sheets and an A3 sheet of watercolour paper all in various strengths of blue Brusho.
This bit is new...The initial watercolour paper was very warped when I went to put it away, there was also a couple of sheets of white cardstock on my desk and a spray bottle...you know what happened next...I sprayed on more water and I ended up getting 2 more A4 sheets.
Umbrella man is cut from one sheet and Unity girl is from the last sheet. Brusho's really are the gift that keeps on giving. The grain of the w/c paper looks like a mesh stencil on these cards.
Thank you for looking, I hope I haven't bored you to tears. I hope you are having happy inky week.

Susie, you never disappoint both in your narrative and your art! The backgrounds are spectacular and I enjoy reading your process. Love umbrella man and that Unity stamp is fabulous. You always add wonderful detail, like the curled paper on umbrella man's coat and even creases in the umbrella. These are so well done!

Fantabulous, Gorgelous, I have to make up words for your cards! Umbrella man's morph into a country gent is perfect, love that scarf and the dimension in the papers. The Unity girl is beautiful against your Brusho sky. Love both your cards to bits, my friend!!

Gasp! Jaw Drop! I am still trying to collect myself in order to write something intelligent! These cards are beyond amazing Susie - truly! I love Brusho and Color Burst powders too and what you do with them is simply amazing my friend! These images and the fantastic makeover you gave to umbrella man is so inspiring and challenges me to think differently about my images now. The sentiments you used speak directly to the heart and inspire us to realize just how strong we truly are. I love reading every single detail you type in for your cards - I learn so much from you and you are a fantastic story teller Susie. You are one of those lovely people who can make a walk around the block seem like the most fantastic journey I have ever been on. Keep doing what you do so well because I doubt if anyone is "bored" with what you are writing (far from it!). Your cards are amazing and they are going right into my favorites! Hugs! ~Karen.

These are super, Susie! Love the rainy bgs & fun images. Yeah..I have lots of stuff filed under "what was I thinking?" I'm sure they were great ideas at the time, but I can't for the life of me remember what they were.
Umbrella man is one of the first images I bought when I started making cards and I don't think I've ever used him. This inspires me! I love the lady image also. Good job!

Such fabulous images and amazing sentiments!! Putting clothing on the rain man is so creative, Susie. I must remember to do that in the future. Thanks for these wonderful cards and the message they send!

Back for a proper comment. See, Robin said exactly what I wrote earlier about a country gent. I worked for someone who dressed a bit like that. It was quite funny, they had all these wonderful top marque cars in the garage and yet he was never happier than when driving around in his little old yellow Mini with baler twine round the steering handle and straw in the footwell. Fab backgrounds, too - you really know how to get mileage from your powders!! They're perfect rainy-day settings for Harmony and Mr Umbrella Man. And where the texture comes through, that looks jsut fab.
