For today's Ways to Use It challenge, WT260, Let's Play--a challenge to design around things you play. (I think my homemade punched frame also qualifies it for this week's technique challenge TLC262 for faux nesties.)
My nephew, who plays Little League and is a big Cincinnati Reds fan, turns 10 next month. I still needed a birthday card for him, so I thought a baseball themed one would do the trick!!
Sponged in sky and grass. Hand cut the peanut bag (after stamping a striped background on white card stock). The squares behind the baseballs and gloves were also either stamped or sponged by me. The peanuts that have fallen out of the bag are popped up on dimensionals, as are the baseballs and gloves.
I'm sure my nephew will love this card, but the fact that it is so unpolished (I had to fudge and do a lot by hand) makes me a bit uncomfy. I probably spent way too much time making this, but I *was* having fun, so I guess that makes it OK!!
Thanks for looking!
Emily

Wow! This is super and time well spent. Your nephew is going to adore this card! Great job with all the sponging and hand cutting that peanut bag. You really did BIG today. Love it!

This is so cool. I made baseball themed cards for several years for my nephew in MA who played Little League (or whatever, I am not clued in on baseball!!). I just love the bag of peanuts. And having fun, isn't that what it should be all about, not just producing polished cards.
I saw your comment about playing simplified Scrabble. When we were growing up we had a Junior Scrabble that I've never seen anywhere else. I always assumed that my mother brought it with her from Canada. It had a different letter distribution, some simple words on the board and pictures. I'll have to check out my brother's memory of it - he's way better at remembering that sort of thing than I am.
And I bet your nephew will just love this card .
