Another entry for WT175, Spice it Up.
I had to use some of the spices that have been neglected by other people. And we were having toasted coconut as a garnish on a curry tonight, which is when I thought it would make great snow.
The chili is home grown, last year's harvest. I dry roasted them to keep, so it's a bit dark. I cut it open, sprayed it with my mister and spread it out. The trunk is a bit of bay-leaf left over from earlier. This year's harvest, straight off the tree, so they are still very green.
The decorations are allspice berries (pimenton), which I sprayed gold or they would have been lost on the roasted chili. I stamped the background with little white snowflakes, using Brilliance white. I used some snowflake confetti with one point cut off each one to make sort of photo-corners, just to anchor the panel to the card. Actually they are silver, but it is a rainy evening here and the light is bad no matter what I do. The sentiment was hand-written with a purple Sakura stardust pen. I hate my handwriting, but I reckoned it went with the rather offbeat card.
For people wondering about the black onion seeds in my shaker, they are also called nigella and are used in Indian cooking. You'll often get them in naan breads, and in a lot of Balti dishes too.
