Faux watercolour (markers & gesso c.s.)

Photo Details
Poster: stampztoomuch

I've been having so much fun with gesso cardstock that I just had to share!

Tutorials on my blog here:
http://melstampz.blogspot.com/2008/0...arkers-on.html

This is a pencil doodle that I traced over with a clear Sakura glaze pen & coloured with markers. Then I just daubed water over the marker to get the look of watercolour paint.

The gesso cardstock has so many nifty properties that I can't write them all here (I've got a week's worth of tutorials on my blog) but here are the details of this technique for those of you who don't like visiting blogs:

1. Make gesso cardstock (Just brush gesso on paper details on my blog here: http://melstampz.blogspot.com/2008/0...arkers-on.html

2. Stamp or doodle an image/pattern

3. Colour with markers (no tricks--just don't drag your hand through it like I did, lol) ;0)

4. If you make a mistake, you can use a q-tip or a clean damp brush to erase it.

5. Lift the colour off in areas. An aqua painter or damp brush works great to move or remove colour. You can just daub a little to make quick work of it, OR you can keep cleaning your brush off to lift more colour away.

I like how quickly plain markering looks on gesso cardstock like it's water-colour painting with no fussin' about with paint/reinkers and no mess.

Thanks so much for lookin'! :0)
