. . . would smell as sweet. This famous excerpt from Shakespearre's Romeo and Juliet is the sentiment on my card. The whole of Juliet's soliloquy is computer generated and printed under the rose.
The card is for today's sketch challenge, for my dearest Judi, the sweetest rose in my garden! For those of you who don't know, Judi's last name happens to be Rose- how cool is that!
I've used a variation of the technique Faux Cloisonne for the rose. I used the 2-Step Stampin' set, Wild Rose, and stamped the first part in Versamark on a photo of a real rose from a Wayside Gardens catalog. (I made FIVE of these before I was satisified with one!) Then I embossed with Gold Glory EP. Next I stamped the more solid part of the stamp in Pretty in Pink Classic ink, and embossed in Detail Clear. (Classic ink works better since it is more transparant, and allows the color of the photo to show through.)
Then I stamped this same solid portion several times on a piece of Appricot Appeal in Rose Red, and clear ebossed. I mounted the magazine portion on the background stamped panel, distressed some edges, coated in Detail Gold EP, and finally added Stickles around the edges. OK, guilding the llily? No- it's a rose! :-)
This description is getting way too long! Any questions, gimme a holler!
The card is nearly 7 inches square- another one that just kept growing! Hope you like it, thanks for looking!
