This is the sample for the Docudrama Challenge that doesn't include a photo. The layout is about my house burning down in 1997.
The journaling reads:
"November 3, 1997. That is a date etched forever in my memory. Tracy and I went to pizza hut to pick up a large pepperoni. Our carefree joy on the five minute trip back home was quickly replaced by terror. The smell hit me first. Smoke. Burning. Flames. Fire. Our house was burning. Ignoring our common sense and powered by pure adrenaline, we ran up the steps, across the porch, and opened the door. Praise god that tracyÂ’s dog, sarge came running out. I looked into the window of my bedroom and could see the flames dropping down from the area of the ceiling fan. In a panicked shock, I tried to fight back with an ordinary garden hose. Two hours later, the fire department let us enter the house. My room was nothing but ashes. I cried for days. IÂ’m a sentimental fool, and although IÂ’m acutely aware that everything I lost was material, it was still one of the most difficult chapters of my life. Starting over wasnÂ’t easy. It was a time in my life that I felt loss, anger, and depression. To this day, I still think of things that I lost in that fireÂ….photos, my childhood strawberry shortcake blanket, a quilt my grandmother made me, and the tiara I wore in my first ballet solo. Since then, IÂ’ve also come to realize that I gained from the fire as wellÂ….a toughness, a renewing of my mind, and a stronger character."
I did try to choose a dramatic color scheme, dramatic papers, and an eye catching title.
I can't wait to see what y'all come up with!

OMG!! Reading your story brought tears to my eyes... I, too, know that they are all material things, but I still think that has to be one of the hardest things to endure - we are military and move a lot and my DH laughs b/c of the things that "must" go in my carry on when we board the plane....
