when I was just getting past the fledgling stage and trying to get the hang of this cardmaking thing, I stepped it up a notch with my second acorn/Fall card. I wanted to challenge myself to use lots of color cause I had been playing it too safe before which caused a lot of my cards to be a bit boring. I also told myself I could only use scraps for this card, cause my scrap pile is taking over my work area.
So I started with light beige cardstock and stamped the background stamp from the Little Layers II set using second generation stamping, then stamped the acorn on top of that. Then I used the spatter stamp from the Itty Bitty Backgrounds set and stamped with light brown chalk ink on the background.
I then poked holes going from the back all along the edge and inked the front with light brown chalk ink. I like the effect it gave to chalk after the holes were poked. it made them stand out. I then chalked the acorn with different colors of chalk and adhered that square to a torn orange mullberry. For the main background cardstock, I stamped using the flourish from the Noteworthy set with versamark onto light yellow cardstock. I lightly went over the stamped versamark with a dark yellow chalk on a cotton ball. I lightly inked the edges of that piece with a ochre colored chalk ink. I then tore a piece of patterned paper for the bottom portion and inked that with dark blue chalk ink, mounted everything onto orange cardstock and added stitch lines with a brown marker pen and adhered ribbon.
