This is for the VSBN challenge to do a layout about preparing for the wedding day. I thought I would tell the story, It's been 18 years and I don't have any photos!
Journaling reads:
The "Proposal"
Well, here is the unvarnished truth about how we got married.... When David was 6 months old and we were almost done with our Senior year in high school, we found out that Charlene was on the way. We waited until April until we told the family and Jamie wanted to wait another year to get married. One night, a month before graduation....
The "Decision"
...I told Jamie that if we weren't going to get married before this baby was born, I was going to move to the Cities with the kids and start college that fall. Jamie got mad (who wouldn't when given an ultimatum!) and took off for about 1 hour. I went and waited in his parent's yard in my car for hime to return and the next day we called a family meeting.
The Family Assets
We were all poor then and my parents couldn't afford to pay for a big wedding, which we didn't want anyway. The families banded together and did it ALL!
Dress- Mom and I sewed it.
Flowers- Lilacs from yard, carnations, orchids, and fillers from Bonnie who worked at a floral shop
Location- The Neyssen's front yard and garage, complete with arch and white fence!
Pulling it together
Cake- baked by Irene and decorated by Beth
Food- cold cuts, etc $ pooled by parents, the rest was leftovers from grad parties in the family
Music- Youth Pastor Lance and wife Joan
Photos- snapshots done by different family members
Bridesmaid's dress- used a dress that bridesmaid would wear at anothe wedding that summer
All this for less than $500!
