Two of our grandchildren were in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for nearly a month with E.coli O157:H7 infections. Michaela, the 18-month old faired better than Johnny, her 4 1/2 year old brother, who has permanent kidney damage and a colostomy. Hopefully reversible. The kindness of so many people has been overwhelming. People have been praying for these 2 "little ones" all over the world. Hopefully, this is the first of many thank you cards to be made and sent. The tiny "grateful", on the butterfly, is the size I feel in comparison to the generosity of thousands, who have prayed and spent time coming to our family's aid.
Johnny came home from the hospital this past Monday, just one week after his little brother, Nikolas, was born. These three have joined 3 1/2 year old, Chrysi, at home. What a wonderful blessing to see our son's family reunited after so long a time. If you want to see Johnny and Michaela's story, it can be found at the Caring Bridge website: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/johnmcdonald.
Sadly, a 20-month old little girl, named Jaycee, died from this dread disease on the night Johnny had his emergency colostomy. Please, please cook all ground beef all the way through leaving no pink in the middle.!!!
Sorry for the disertation! I can finally rest, just a little easier, since the children are home, even though, Johnny is on 5 blood pressure meds and 2 kidney stone meds. Michaela is on one of each kind. Thanks for reading this, that is helping me "let down" a little.
Thanks again for "listening" and lending a shoulder!
With a prayer for all, so that we remember our blessings, Chrysi McDonald.
P.S. Oh yes! Hope you like this card. Have a great day!

I LOVE your card -- it is gorgeous -- beautifully done -- but your story is so touching, so tragic -- but I'm so glad your grandchildren are home and will hopefully continue to improve each day -- and congrats on the new grandbaby as well!!! If only we knew all the stories behind all these cards we see each day -- one never knows -- prayers up for you and your family -- God Bless!!!
