My UL and I are starting a technique book for our customers. We will have periodic technique classes throughout the year that they can add pages to the book. The directions for the technique will be on one side with the card front sample on the opposite side. We are using the plastic photo albums that hold a card front for the book to keep costs down.
I got to do the cover. After several failed attempts to make something striking I ended up with this, which wasn't what I originally envisioned, but I think turned out pretty cool.
I used the textured CS (charcoal, river rock and white) and did DTP with chocolate chip ink on the smaller layers to give a faux linen/fabric look.
I watercolored the flower from the pretties kit using an aquapainter and pumpkin pie ink. I used crystal effects to adhere a clear button in the center and once it dried, added more CE to the top and dipped it in micro beads. I used a pop up glue dot to adhere the flower to the layers and popdots to adhere the layer to the base.
The ribbon on the side is celery wide grosgrain and wild wasabi double stitched.
I printed the title on charcoal textured CS (cut to size to fit in the printer)
I just realized writing this that i used no stamps - i guess this is a "paper craft" and not a stamping project this time around :o)

This is beautiful! Great coloring job on the flower. Is this the first technique in your classes? Do each of your 'pupils' get to color their own flowers? What a great way to start a Technique Class! TFS! b
