This card is for my husband's BIL, who reunited with his college buddy to perform folk music locally in western Michigan as The New Town Cryers (the original group had four members).
The monogram is computer generated in Excel using WordArt, Times New Roman, sized to 4.5 x 3.25 and printed out onto So Saffron cardstock. After stamping it with Chocolate Chip and the Musical background stamp, I stamped it with Linen and So Saffron, and sponged on some more So Saffron. I then cut it out and adhered it onto Always Artichoke cardstock that had been stamped with Linen and Always Artichoke, and trimmed around it.
It's hard to tell, but the background started out as a piece of polished stone using So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie and Really Rust. After stamping it with Chocolate Chip and the Musical background, I then made it into Faux Linen using the sanding block, sponged on some more Pumpkin Pie and Really Rust, followed by stamping it with Linen using Pumpkin Pie and Print Pattern using Really Rust. I finished by outlining it with the Chocolate Chip marker. I love the combination of the softness of the Faux Linen with the mottled look of the polished stone. The paper used for the hardware oval frame and the Alphabits letters is an old piece of polished stone that I also gave the Faux Linen treatment.
The monogram is popped up on dimensionals. The musical charms were all heated with the heat gun and dipped in dark copper EP. They're attached with mini glue dots.
The name inside the hardware frame is a custom rub-on transfer, created by printing the name in WordArt onto acetate on my inkjet printer in mirror image (make sure it's on the slick side), allowed to dry for 15 minutes and then flipped over and transferred onto the paper by rubbing the back with a popsicle stick.
I'm happier with the design than I am with the colors. My first-choice color scheme bombed, and I just couldn't come up with something that really pleased me.

This is gorgeous, the card definitely has a warmth to it and your husband's friend is going to cherish it. Thanks for sharing how to make that monogram.

Wonderful card, Linda! Love the musical score going through the letter and BG and the copper covered charms! Thanks for the tip on heating them and then dipping!
