The Teapot Challenge this week was to create a card that depicts your idea of summer. Trips to the Rockies, hiking and camping all say summer to me. From the time when our kids were little, to now that they're adults with kids of their own, time spent in nature is part of our summer. Our winters are long here so a sunny summer day with blue skies where we can soak in the amazing world around us is the best way to cast off the worries of the day.
I chose three distress inks that were close to the challenge colours and smooshed them onto my inking surface, spritzed with water and pressed regular white cardstock into it. Die cut a square and stamped my little tree numerous times, both fully inked and second generation, shifting it's location. Created a digital 'sentiment'. Layered the image and sentiment with black frames over a Crumb Cake base layer that had been dry embossed with a hiking boot tracks embossing folder.
I thought the sketch looked CAS so I've included my card in this week's CAS and Sketch challenges. I know I push the boundaries on CAS and one day I'll get there. Not sure who my card recipient will be at this point - certainly someone that I've spent time hiking with.
The quote I used: "and into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul", is widely misattributed to the famous naturalist John Muir. This passage cannot be found anywhere in his writings although he did frequently write about finding peace in the wilderness.
Thanks for stopping by. :-) |
