 | | I was drawn to Abigail101 aka Lisa's Moody Mixed Media backgrounds (although she also has some more plain and simple offerings in her gallery, too) I Chose this Heard a Strange Noise 2 card.
Things I Changed: Copper wreath to Metallic cogs & gears, Different techniques for building my bg, Different sentiment, No Bugs or Beetles . . .
I started with a piece of black cardstock, dragging 3 colors of acrylic paint over the panel with the edge of an old gift card. Once that was dry, I stenciled some mechanical images with Encore Metallic Blue Ink. I have only worked with Angelina Fibers on plain cardstock but took a Leap of Faith and sprinkled some over the paint encrusted panel, covered with parchment paper and pressed with my iron. Whew - they adhered beautifully to the paint creating a shimmery spider web of ultra fine fibers. (and my iron survived unscathed!)
My brother sells and installs weird & wonderful machines at small manufacturing plants that do all kinds of amazing things. . . . so, I cut some cogs & gears from metallic cardstock and the large fly wheel from some textured charcoal. Turns out the Charcoal was not a good choice of color, so I found some ANCIENT Lustre Creme and smeared on some pewter and copper to give this the more aged metallic look I wanted. I finished with my own sentiment partially die & fussy cut and partially computer generated. The computer printed section was fussy cut with a deckle-edged scissors then edged with gold 3-D paint and framed with royal blue metallic cardstock.
This card exceeded my wildest expectations! |
