WT1098 = Caxton and Aesop - I went with a mouse (one of Aesop's animals) and he's sitting on a pile of books so quite appropriate to go with books of Aesop's fables or with the printing press.
A simple stamped and coloured image, trimmed with rectangle die, and mounted on a dp background. It's going to some young friends who just had a baby boy, and, as a retired librarian, I'm sending some children's books as a gift.

Fun card for the challenge and for your baby gift. Books are the perfect gift for a child - I'm not a librarian and that's what I give - they take longer to grow out of books! I choose to give books that I liked reading to my kids and now my grands - ones with lots of growls and repetitions always gets them anticipating what's coming next.

That is the sweetest little mouse image, could easily be a book illustration. It it would make a great book plate.

So you're a retired librarian....for some reason, I'm not at all surprised. You seem like a person who loves books like me. After I was not happy being a music teacher in the schools (I loved teaching privately), I thought about going back for library science. This is a darling card and so perfect from you.
