I opened the image in Photoshop, and created a blank 5-1/4x4" "canvas" for my card panel. I dragged the image to my canvas, & sized it to fit. I found a greeting from a different digi set that happened to nestle perfectly in the upper right corner of the image. After opening the greeting in Photoshop, I dragged it onto my canvas & resized it. Finally, I printed the image/greeting composite onto a panel of watercolor paper.
I have a Pinterest board of reference photos for different things, including birds. So I found a photo of a blue jay & opened it on my phone. I kept that by me as I painted the bird. For some color interest, I began the leaves by painting with a warm yellow. After that dried, I glazed over it with green, let that dry, & then added shading with blue. I used a white gel pen to go over the catch light in the bird's eye & clean up a few edges where the paint had bled outside the lines.
After the paint dried, I added my panel to a navy mat that I'd adhered to my white card base. The whole card took a little over 2 hours or so to make, including the work in Photoshop.
