The 'black ice' technique on Charmaine's card looks amazing, but it requires swiping/stamping on metallic/slick cardstock so an ink like Stayzon is required, and I don't have it.
But I'm all about getting the look without the exact products, so I swiped two blue and one black ink onto some white cardstock, leaving it as streaky as possible to get a similar feel.
Then I stamped snowflakes all over the panel in that same black ink, stamping 4 times to be sure that they were very dark and contrasted with the background.
Black Ice then calls for swiping embossing ink very lightly over the panel and heat embossing with clear powder to create the look of little ice droplets. I used holographic embossing powder to compensate for the fact that the cardstock wasn't metallic and didn't have that shimmer.

I bet this looks stunning IRL with the holographic powder. Love how you achieved the look of "black ice" with other inks and techniques. Awesome card. Thanks for the inspiration.

Ardyth, this is a great case of Charmaine's card. I love the black snowflakes. I think you made a gorgeous black ice background even though you didn't have the Stazon to work on slick cardstock. I love what you accomplished.

I know photos never do justice to many techniques and I bet this is the case here and the black ice looks even better IRL. So pretty - super background!

Excellent card, Ardyth - I too noticed her black ice cards while browsing and it has been a while since I attempted the technique. I love your adaptations and especially the white dots!
