Inspiration Station #22 ( https://inspirationstationchallenge....e-22-warm.html ) which has an inspiration photo. Using this photo I chose to include three hot winter drinks (tea, coffee, and hot chocolate) and the red/green plaid. I felt warm and cozy as soon as the card started coming together!
The card front consists of a dark green card base upon which I glued diagonal strips of plaid paper that had gold highlights. This design was following the Sketch Saturday layout.
Because the only stamps I have that show hot steamy drinks images are so large, I had to go with a 5"x7" format. Even that larger size card crowded my layout somewhat due to the sketch... but I think it's super easy to recognize the sketch that inspired it. Each drink was stamped using Stampin' Up! (SU) Early Espresso ink, then colored with Copic markers to match the theme of the type of drink. The drinks were then die cut with a stitched rectangle from the retired SU "Stitched Shapes" die set.
These squares were mounted with foam tape on top of the card front as a way to give added interest and depth. The sentiment was stamped with the same dark brown ink, then die cut using the SU "Bunch of Banners" dies. The one die cuts out both the center of the banner and the perimeter. So I die cut it twice,,, once from the vanilla cardstock centered over the sentiment, then again die cutting the same plaid paper I used on the diagonal. I taped these two together on the back, then mounted it so it overlapped the blank square (using glue), and the dark green card background using a foam square to raise and support the sentiment at the same height as the squares.
I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "2" out of a possible "5". Such an unusual sketch caused to pause a bit to think how I was going to approach it. After I figured it out, the rest was relatively easy.
This will be a good card to send to a friend one of these cold wintery days here in North America!
