For whatever reason, I usually wait to do the CC and sometimes the MMTPT challenges until Wednesday so I can use the SC. Sometimes it works out very well, other times it's more of a challenge. Today was more of a challenge but I feel pretty good about what I did.
My tendency lately is to think CAS or at least minimalist. With today's SC, that was a challenge. Lots happening on the right side and I hate to cover things up with layers. I guess I don't think in layers very well and I know I don't always think well with colors. Pinterest to the rescue, if only to look at some cards with similar colors and settle on a theme, which is feathers.
I used the three challenge colors, plus coastal cabana for my blue and then added in a dark navy. My night of navy ink pad finally bit the dust; it fell apart and I couldn't get it back together, plus the felt was really ratty. Someone else added in a dark blue and I really liked how it balanced the more 'tropical' colors. The challenge colors were also a challenge for me.
I did quite a bit of stamping with my platform, blending colors on the feather stamps. I didn't want to cover the large right hand feathers so I just stamped the Zentangle feathers over it. I originally had stamped those and fussy cut them but wasn't happy with the look (save them for another time). I decided to move the oval over to provide some balance, only thing I wish I had some if sponge a little bit of ink around the oval to make it stand out. I used all of the stamps from the two feather sets and the bird and little circle sun or whatever it is from the CS set. I liked that the bird had sort of a Zentangle look to it. I think I loved Zentangle long before I knew what it was. Thanks for the good challenges, which they certainly were.
Forgot to mention that when I cut the oval, I trimmed the tail and beak of the bird so they didn't get cut off. I forget what that technique is.

Love these images -- the bird and the circle sun remind me of Native America art and they look wonderful with the feathers. Love the creative way you incorporated the sketch with the stamped feathers. I know what you mean about covering things with layers, but when I look at my favorite cards that is often what they do and what makes them standout. Yours looks wonderful.
