This is my sample for the Color Challenge hosted by LeAnn. I love the colors she has chosen: Balmy Blue, Pale Papaya and Old Olive with anything goes for dessert.
Although I do not have a lot of the Blends Markers (working on that), I did happen to have all three colors for the challenge, with Balmy Blue being my latest addition. I decided to try coloring a black/white DSP pattern. I learned that the wet alcohol ink causes the color from the backside of the paper to show through, but once the ink was dry, the true ink color was there. Good to know.
I also wanted to use this fabulous shimmery vellum in the Pale Papaya. I pondered how to attach the vellum and how to highlight the DSP that I colored. In the tutorials I found a technique for creating a medallion using a scallop edge punch. See it here:
The medallion was the perfect size and it was fun to make use of a punch that I have had for a long time. The medallion edges gave areas to glue down the vellum that would not be seen and created a lovely framework for the layered circle, which was popped up on Dimensionals. I finished off with some jewels, sequins, Wink of Stella on the flower petals and a stamped birthday sentiment. My dessert option is punches.
I look forward to seeing what you create and finding out what you choose for dessert. TFL

Diane, I'm thrilled to see you were successful in using that beautiful Pale Papaya vellum, lol, I tried using it but am having to save my die cut piece for another day! Your creation is an inspiration on another way to use the vellum! Love it all... Oh yeah, you've done a marvelous job of combining two challenges too! TFS

Oh, Wow! Diane, I love everything about this card! The flowers are beautiful, the medallion is clever (thank you for reminding me I have that punch!), and the vellum is luscious! Beautiful!

I just knew the color challenge gallery was going to be a lot of fun this week and this pretty little card shows why. I love your inventive use of the scallop punch AND that you brought in that beautiful shimmer paper.

That shimmery vellum is stunning ~ clever way to get it on there without any adhesive showing! And doesn't it feel great to make use of something that's been on the shelf for awhile?!
