My brother's birthday is in the summer, so I have never made him a winter-themed card. This year, though, we got him a book about World War II planes being found in the Arctic, so this card seemed perfect to go with that!
After I masked off the bottom of the panel with painter's tape, I stamped the iceberg image (from "Arctic Pals") with Kiddie Pool ink onto a panel of mixed media paper. To get more than one iceberg, I just stamped the image at different angles & heights. I used Kiddie Pool to stamp the ice floes (from "Arctic Penguins") as well onto vellum bristol paper. I stamped the polar bear & penguin (from "Arctic Pals") with Fog ink, & the greeting with Morning Mist, also onto bristol. I colored the images with my colored pencils, & used a light blue pencil to add some shading to the icebergs & ice floes. Finally, I die cut the penguin, polar bear, & ice floes with the coordinating dies.
I stamped the iceberg image 3 times onto masking paper, cut those out, & used them to mask the icebergs. I masked off the bottom of my background with painter's tape, & inked the sky with Speckled Egg Distress ink. I removed my masks, masked off the top part of the panel with tape, & inked the water with Salty Ocean Distress ink. I used the same color in Oxide ink to stamp the waves (from "Stay Salty").
I die cut 3 planes from grey cardstock, & glued them on the sky portion of my panel. I glued the ice floes, polar bear, & penguin in the water. I glued the greeting banner above the penguin, & used a black fine-tip pen to draw in a stick. Finally, I went over the polar bear's eyes with a black glaze pen, & used the same plus a white gel pen on the penguin's eyes.
P.S. - My brother loved this card!
