For my inspiration, I followed Jennifer McGuire's video on distress ink lifting. You use plain water with a brush to 'lift' and lighten the ink applied over the embossed image. Then you go back in and add color with a paintbrush. I used some deep pink ink to add color to the hydrangea petals and green for the leaves. I spritzed my background with water for more texture.
.
Next time I'll try it with a more open spaces stamp such as the one she used. Still, a fun, different technique.

Oh, this is beautiful. I have to get my Lift-It ink out again and use it. The folder is just gorgeous for framing your flower.

Gorgeous card! I'm glad you shared how you did it. I first thought it was distressed gold embossing for the hydrangea. You achieved a beautiful effect.
