I made this card for my neighbor who graciously offered to fix the handle of our outside door. It literally broke in two around when the Covid 19 scare happened. It has been difficult to open and equally difficult to keep closed during storms. We so appreciate this good neighbor!
I used ink on the wood e.f. and dry embossed the panel. I used some add'l inks, very lightly, direct to the embossed c.s. panel to give some added depth. I had a scrap of c.s. that I stamped the sentiment onto and then punched two holes and put black eyelets in them. I punched a hole for the doorknob and then added a bronze grommet, using my WRMK punch/grommet setter tool. I didn't have a black brad so I took a pale blue one and inked it with Versafine black, dipped it into black e.p. and heat embossed it. I did this twice. Then I added a very small eyelet upside down for the stem of the doorknob and lastly added the now black brad for the knob. I couldn't be happier with how it came out and since I will be hand delivering it, it doesn't matter about the extended doorknob going through the mail. I punched another hole at the top of the door and put a phillips screw style brad in it and added the linen string as you see. The sentiment was purposely hung askew for interest. I added fun foam to the back of the wood panel which I stuck down on a kraft card base and then used foam adhesive to the back of the sentiment. It took longer to explain all this than I expected but truly it was not hard to make - in fact I enjoyed it!
It's been a long time since I've used grommets, brads and eyelets but so glad they were there when I needed them!
Thanks for taking a look!
