I have acquired 3 sets of the MFT selfie stamp sets and have a 4th on my wish list. Yet, up until now, I hadn't inked up a single one. And, I'm woefully behind on making Christmas cards. So I issued myself a challenge to try and make a card with each of the selfie images in the Christmas set. I still have a few to use, but I'm well on my way. This is #4.
While this card looks to be very much like the others in this set, let me tell you, it fought me the whole way. In my mind, it was going to be an A2 sized card. Instead of stamping on a panel and adhering to the card base, I did it right on the card base. Some of my brown and red Copics are clearly overdue for some love so coloring was challenging - not that smooth transition of color I'd like. (I know what I'll be doing next time I'm in my craft room!)
Got past that and it turned out I was the tiniest bit off in stamping the image straight and centered, which became obvious when I tried to put a cover panel on it. I finally worked through that and then found I just really didn't like all that white space, even with textured card stock. So I went to my stash and found this red panel (also A2 size) left over from a Christmas card from years past, already stamped with Versamark and the SU linen BG stamp. Better than the white, but still not liking it. So I ended up cutting it down to 4.25", die cut the focal image and inlaid it and called it done. Whew! In retrospect, I think I should have white embossed my sentiment, but oh well. It is what it is, and I'm OK with that.
In any case, another card for the Christmas stash and one step closer to meeting my goal of using all 6 images in this set.
TFL.
