I created this card for a guy I know whose mother passed away recently. I have had the "Modern Succulents" set for a while now, and thought this was a good opportunity to break it out. I used an old Operation Write Home sketch (#5) as the basis for my design.
I stamped the plant on a piece of vellum bristol paper with Fadeout ink. I colored it with my Prismacolor pencils, following an image I found online of an agave plant. I don't know if that's really what this image is, but it looked at least pretty close! I also added a shadow under the pot to ground it.
I found a piece of brown patterned paper (source unknown) in my scrap stash that was exactly 4x5-1/4". I matted that with light blue, and adhered it to a white card base. I cut 2 panels from one of the papers in the "Peaceful Meadows" mat stack, and adhered them in place. I centered my focal panel over those.
I stamped the "with sympathy" greeting from the same stamp set onto a scrap of white cardstock with Charcoal Brown ink. I cut the left end at an angle that matched the slant of the "w," & glued it to my card to finish everything off.
