Chocolate!!!

This card was made for a sketch challenge whose theme is "sweet treats". I think I nailed it with all my treats dipped in chocolate! I turned the sketch 90-degrees to a horizontal format.

The stamp set is the retired 2003 Stampin' Up! "Oh So Sweet" set. Since the stamps are pretty punch solid color, I couldn't just ink them on a stamp pad, or they would have turned out as a solid inked image. So I got out my trusty markers and hand colored each region on the stamps the colors I wanted. As I finished coloring each stamp I "huffed" several times to add moisture back to the ink, then stamped them using my SU stamp positioner so I could re-stamp any parts of the image that had dried too quickly on the rubber stamp. The brown was kinda stubborn in that regard.

I nexted used the Glossy Accents liquid to cover all the chocolate areas in each of the three treats. This would make them glisten like chocolate is after dipping strawberries and the chocolate hardens. After allowing the shiny part to completely dry (I waited an hour), I used a stitched circle die to cut each out. Then cut chocolate-covered scalloped circle mat for each. To add dimension, I ran each scalloped circle back thru my Big Shot on top of a rubber mat to emboss the edges for added definition. I then glued a piece of black craft foam that I had die-cut with the same die so that the three treats would sit above the main card surface.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set. I stamped in in the same chocolate ink color, then cut the strip to as narrow as possible and punched a scalloped top to match the scalloped circles.

This card was much easier to make than I first expected it to be since I had to hand color the treats. But using the stamp positioner allowed me to stamp a second time where the color didn't come out solid enough. I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "2" out of a possible "5". I think it will make for a fun cheering up card.
