The first craft of this year for me and it put up a fight. The legend, as one might say, of the embossing folder against humanity:
Sometimes, you have to schedule just one task for a day, no matter how simple that task may be, and do nothing else that day. And thatâs fine. For me, posting things online is normally the only task of the day.
However, the base of the card was not planned on being the only task of a day, it decided that itself.
The day was cold, maybe a little cloudy, to be honest, I wasnât really paying attention. I was setting up card bases and what would go on them, streamlining the process for myself later. It was time to emboss a card base to make it resemble a beenie.
The embossing folder was outnumbered, 2 to 1. Me with my machine VS. it alone. And let me tell you, the embossing folder was determined to not go down without a fight, its plan was to out-power both me and the machine. And it half succeeded.
It bested me. My machine survived without even a casualty, wish I could say the same for my arms.
The fight was a full body workout, my arms took the brunt of the damage as my hands took turns trying to hold the machine steady and spinning the handle. My entire body tensed in an attempt to stay strong in the heat of battle.
If the embossing folder were its own being, I think it would have been laughing at my feeble attempts to work with it.
But in the end, I got the embossing I wanted, even if it cost my arm muscles. And mark my words, some day, there will be a rematch.
So anyway, the card base was made by folding the card and running it through with the embossing folder, bad decision if anyone was curious. I then used my largest circle die to trace around and give the card a somewhat rounded shape.
The bottom part was an inch-tall strip of the same color that was slightly longer. I ran it through with the folder and rounded the corners.
The misti was used for anything stamp related- including wood-blocks, and also as a flat surface for me to line things up on.
