Mary is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week. She is definitely in the spirit of the season with colors of Cherry Cobbler, Shaded Spruce and gold. The dessert option is a Christmas or Winter birthday card.
I had the idea that I wanted the pinecone on my card to be gold, but wanted the branch to be green and brown. Experimenting, I used a VersaMark pen and a MISTI stamp positioner, and colored in only the pinecone with the marker. Then I stamped and sprinkled with gold embossing powder and heat set. I put the watercolor paper back in the MISTI, and colored the pine needles with a stamp pad and sponge dauber. I added a tiny bit of Mossy Meadow at the base of each bunch of pine needles. I used a brush marker in brown to fill in the open areas of the pine cone, and the stem.
For the holly leaves and berries, I stamped and then used a waterbrush to blend the ink over the stamped image. Stamped the greeting in Cherry Cobbler, sponged ink along the edges of the paper, then mounted on a Cherry Cobbler base and added a few sequins for a little sparkle.
Thanks for stopping by, and please play along with us this week!

Love how you did that pinecone on this beauty, Barbara! You really got kind of a vintage, nostalgic look going with the holly and sequins. It's so effective!
