For Janelle's MIX356 Gratitude Box mixed media challenge, which she described as inspiration-heavy. I took the square format from the box, the clean design, and although I did start out with some real wood, I traded it in for a stamped tree trunk for a lighter look. Wasted more watercolour paper than I wanted when I got smudges of paint on a couple of the layering elements, but most of it is re-usable for something else.
Cut the main square, spritzed it and added mostly Winsor & Newton AWC plus a pink from my Prima Confections. When dry I stamped a script stamp in Mermaid Lagoon archival (stamped off once) and added some white and texture with SnowTex - but I don't have Nancy's magical touch with it.
I tried some wooden discs but they were too heavy looking, tried a die-cut frame, also too heavy. So I opted for stamping my tree trunk in walnut stain and colouring with antique linen and vintage photo. The bird is layered up on foam for a little dimension, and I added the sentiment. There are two more matting layers, also cut with stitched square dies.

When I read the steps you've used to obtain this pretty card I can feel a bit of frustration do I feel that right...?? Your card is beautiful, I love the pretty pastel colors, the layering is very elegant and the bird on the stamped trunk takes the eye straight to your sentiment!!

I like the “wonder” look of colors and elements. For the time and maybe frustration it took to get to the end, I think it came out really nice and balanced!
