This card is for the VSN challenge hosted by Kim aka berlycece and is a challenge to use the colour of your birth stone and is in keeping with the overall theme of the VSN âRock Starâ
This is the last card for me of the VSN challenges and as soon as I saw it I knew what I wanted to do. Unfortunately, I spent an hour searching for a Tim Holtz mask that I have but couldnât find.
My birthday is in May and my birth stone is emerald. Every time I think or hear the word emerald, I think Emerald Isle and of course that means Ireland hence the Celtic knot borders.
I sponged some blending card with Distress and oxide inks Lucky Clover then lightly spritzed it with water. I dried this with my heat tool then because I couldnât find my music mask, I used a stamp and bleach and stamped music onto the background. It hasnât worked as well as I would have liked but it makes the background interesting.
I stamped the Celtic knot boarder down the left side and along the bottom. I then stamped the greeting and over stamped with Versa Mark and heat embossed this with clear embossing powder. I tied some ribbon around the blending card then mounted this onto SU -Shaded Spruce base tied a bow to the ribbon and added two rhinestones and thatâs it.
VSN is a challenge run three or four times a year and is held over two days Friday and Saturday USA ET or Saturday and Sunday EST Australia, with often a mini VSN a few weeksâ earlier just so you can get into the swing of things. You have an hour to make each card with a challenge going up every hour.
I love to try and do my challenges live but sometimes life gets in the way and so everyone just must have their cards uploaded within a week of the challenge. It is an honour system that you only take an hour to make your card and that is part of the challenge, it is amazing how it hones your creativity.
Anyone can join in the fun and this VSN is from 5th and 6th July or 6th and 7th if youâre in Australia with final uploads on the 15th July. We have many of our SCS members provide inspiration for an amazing weekend.
