You know how one thing leads to another? Trying out a new background technique (wrinkle free distress) in the closest colours I could get to Mango, Poppy and Clover (Cameo Coral, Ruby Red and Glorious Green). I got a really nice piece that sits behind the window with the cat. Then I decided to try the Washi tape challenge. I had some colourful striped tape that had some good colour matches in it and decided to pop the shutters off, cover them with Washi and piece back in place. I cut out the windows, giving me a negative space revealing the background. I used Bravo Burgundy as my neutral ink. Felt pens Rich Razzleberry and Basic Black journaller to colour in the window frame and the cat so it looked like it was watching outside. So now I had assembled a nice little panel, but how to use it on a card? I decided to add two more designs of Washi Tape. This left me with the upper left section and across the bottom. I just sponged on the matching ink colours. Still a bit unbalanced, so I used "Itty Bitty Backgounds" to stamp in Bravo Burgundy and then figured I'd better stop.
I very seldom make a card with this much happening on it, it grew like Topsy, but I'm satisfied. All was done with older stamp sets, mostly retired colours and tools. Still being pretty diligent about using up what I have.

Great use of negative space and the colours make a gorgeous background. I've always liked that set, nice to see it. The washi is a brilliant idea for the shutters.

What a fun challenge combo! Love the Washi Tape shutters! I know exactly what you mean about when cards grow with a mind of their own. Kudos to you for knowing when to stop :0)
