Our Featured Stamper this week is patstamps2001. What a gorgeous gallery Patsy has! I was particularly struck by how neat and tidy her cards are. You know how I tend to slap things together, doodle here and there and make kind of an organized mess. I tried to keep my card nice and neat in Patsy's honor. After browsing her entire beautiful gallery, I came back to this recent card. The fruit and the sentiment reminded me of this card that I was kind of planning in my head for my mom for Mother's Day. I recently saw a funny post on Facebook called "If you give a mom a muffin". It's written in the style of the children's book "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" where he asks for a glass of milk and all kinds of other things until he comes back to asking for another cookie. I changed a few things to suit my mom. Here's what it says inside:
If you give a mom a muffin,
Sheâll want a cup of tea to go with it.
Sheâll make herself some.
Her grandson will come over and spill the tea.
Mom will wipe it up.
Wiping the floor sheâll find dirty socks.
Sheâll remember she has to do laundry.
On her way to the washer, sheâll trip over shoes and bump into the freezer.
Bumping into the freezer will remind her she has to plan Sunday Dinner.
She will get out a pound of hamburg.
Sheâll look for her phone to text the kids.
Her phone is sitting under a pile of mail.
She will see the electric bill which is due tomorrow.
Sheâll sit down at her laptop to pay it.
When she sits down at her laptop her phone will ding.
Someone bought a Tea Party Raggedy Ann.
Thinking of tea will remind her that she was going to have a cup.
She will make herself some more.
And chances are,
If she has a cup of tea,
One of her kids will have eaten the muffin that went with it.
Naturally I have a muffin digi, who doesn't? So I printed them, colored and cut. Then I took this Paper Smooches freebie that was coming up on my list of images to use and I made a background with it. My hand ached by the time I was done coloring all those berries! I used the same layout and general idea from Patsy's card, and I finished with some thread instead of ribbon and a bow. Thanks for the inspiration, Patsy!
