Today I combined the sketch with Dawnâs âSee it Clearlyâ challenge to use acetate. I thought it would be fun to make a shaker card for my friend who is turning 40 next week. Most of my friends will be turning 40 in the next year or two, so expect to be seeing a lot of these! This card was one disaster after another and came in at 56 minutes. I started by making a â40â cut file using the ScanNCut software and the âGrinchedâ font from fontspace.com. I finally figured out how to make an offset in the software to shadow my words/numbers. Then I stamped the balloons (from a set that Iâve never used) and embossed them with pearly green EP. But when I picked up the bottom one, I smudged the EP! Then I cut the two birthday patterned papers for the bottom and top layers and cut (too small) a circle. I shouldâve gone with the next die size up. I flipped the paper over and stuck on the acetate and the foam squares around the circle. Filled in with sequins and then stuck the card base to it. When I flipped it over, the paper was upside down which wouldnât have been such a big deal if it didnât say âHappy Birthdayâ all over it. I had to cut the whole card apart and put it on a new base. UGH. Then I scattered sequins across the card specifically so I could cover up the EP smudge. Adventures in card making! LOL!

Even if it wasn't that fun to make with the mishaps we can all relate to, it will be very fun to receive. You made it work, learned something new, and it turned out great! Love your retro color scheme.

I can feel your pain! In the past I have done all the things you did, in multiples, and covered things up as best I could. I give you an "A" for stick-to it-iveness! Your friend will never know the trial this card caused. Fun card, love the shaker and the BIG 40!
