This card was made for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #314 (https://atlanticheartschallenge.blog...ketch-314.html) As soon as I saw the sketch, I knew I wanted to use embossing folders for the four quarters!
I created the card front by embossing four different 4"x 5-1/4" pieces of Stampin' Up! (SU) Whisper White cardstock in different embossing folders (see bottom of this page for the names). After embossing them, I glued the four sheets to a pieces of 8-1/2"x 11" SU Soft Sea Foam cardstock, leaving a 1/2" border between each piece.
Then I laid a 4"x 5-1/4" piece of scrap cardstock as a template on top of the glued embossed sheet exactly where I wanted it so that I had the diagonal lines like the sketch. I marked the four edges lightly with a pencil. Then trimmed all four sides using my paper trimmer to form the main front panel of the card.
I used my Brother ScanNCut to create the long leafy strips out of SU Pistachio Pudding cardstock. I applied Zig 2-Way glue to the back of each leafy strip, and then placed them in the light green borders between each embossed panel.
The flower was created by stamping a flower from the SU "Flower Shop" set using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I then colored the flower using an R22 Copics marker. The flower was attached to the card front using adhesive foam strips to raise it above the card surface for added dimension and interest.
The sentiment was diecut from SU Basic Black cardstock using the Sizzix "Celebrate" thinlits die.
Finally, the main panel was glued to the SU Flirty Flamingo card base.
I intentionally made the card a generic "celebrate" one so that I could use it for just about any occasion that required a feminine touch.
I am rating the difficulty of this card as a "2" out of a possible "5". The use of embossing folders really dresses up the card for not a lot of extra work! If you have a long leafy die in your collection, it could be used instead of a digital cutting machine.
