fairytale...O4J
Added to Favorite

Photo Details
Poster: One4Joy

Our tea party for TeaPotters this month celebrated Fairytales. And your favorite book from childhood.
I must admit to going down a rabbit hole on the favorite book of childhood. I simply couldn't pick just one. So I chose a quote instead.

Every person's life
is a fairytale
written by
God's finger

Hans Christian Andersen

The lovely scene with a mother and her children is an illustration from a children's book that was made into a stamp by a most talented man from my city. He had a great appreciation of the art from long ago and would press them into rubber. I colored with watercolors. I cut a mask and then stenciled the clocks in the background with Chalk Box inks. I just kept at it.

The sentiment was stamped onto a mixed media scrap and the frame (Stampington) was placed over. I cut out the pieces of the family that needed to go behind the book frame.

The foiled stars (Club Strap) were super fun to do.
The card closes with a little bit of seam binding.

Thanks for have a look. Can't wait to see what books prompted your art this week.

What a fantastic sky. For some reason your clocks remind me of old wrought-iron bedsteads so this takes me to Bedknobs and Broomsticks, of which I have only the faintest of memories as I saw it once when very young. Your main image reminds me of the style of illustration in my current HCA anthology. I'll have to be honest and say I preferred my childhood version with much more picturesque coloured drawings, but I can totally imagine this in an old treasure trove book. Look at the lovely spinning wheel!

Magical! What a wonderful quote by HC Andersen...his stories were favorites of mine. And that image...I can't believe it's a stamp...it's fantastic. Thanks for the back story of how it was created. Love the foil stars, too. Your cards always have a story to them and I love reading them

This is absolutely wonderful! I adore your reference to going down the rabbit hole in indecision because I say that myself. Ha! Your stamped image made by a talented artist from your city is so beautiful and truly fitting on this card. I love the clocks, the stars, The dainty yellow bow and this fabulous sentiment. It all adds up to a truly wonderful work of art. ~Karen.
